We aim to keep your most recent backup in fast-access storage to meet our recovery SLA targets (as fast as 15 minutes for Enterprise). For plans with longer retention (90-365 days), older historical backups are moved to archive storage to optimize costs. The 0.5x egress ratio on higher plans accounts for the occasional retrieval of these older backups, but it's still 5x more than typical professional usage (~10% monthly). In practice, most recoveries use the latest backup, so you'll rarely exceed your egress limit.
